Dehydroluciferin

Dehydroluciferin is a chemical compound that has been found to react with luciferase enzymes to produce light signals. The luciferase enzyme produces light by oxidizing the substrate molecule luciferin, with ATP as the energy source. It has been shown that Dehydroluciferin reacts with luciferase enzymes in a chemiluminescent reaction, producing light signals. The kinetics of this reaction have been measured using a photomultiplier tube and it was found that the rate of this reaction follows first order kinetics. This means that the rate of reaction is proportional to the amount of Dehydroluciferin added to the solution. Dehydroluciferin has also been shown to react with other proteins such as P450, which is an important enzyme in drug metabolism. These reactions are also first order and follow Michaelis-Menten kinetics.
