Potassium p-nitrophenyl sulphate
4-Nitrophenyl sulfate potassium salt (NPPS) is an environmental pollutant that has been shown to induce leukemic transformation in mice. NPPS has also been found to inhibit the activity of enzymes and increase the production of reactive oxygen species, which can lead to oxidative stress in cells and cause DNA damage. NPPS has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on colorectal adenocarcinoma cells, which may be due to its ability to induce cell signaling pathways like mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and apoptosis. In vitro studies have shown that NPPS can inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi, and protozoa, but it is not toxic for mammalian cells. The toxicity of NPPS for mammals will depend on the concentration in which it is administered or consumed. The fetal bovine model is a good model system for testing the toxicity of NPPS because it mimics human physiology.
